Hendrick's Gin is a newcomer to the 'super-premium' spirits range, and it certainly breaks a few rules. Not only are rose petals and cucumbers in the mix of botanicals that give it its particular aroma and taste, but it's made in Scotland too. Despite this, there's something very English about this gin. It's gentle on the palate, with a vague sweetness, a whiff of Turkish Delight and yes, cucumber, as well as the more typical aromes of juniper, citrus and coriander seed. Gin is undergoing something of a revival at the moment and this one demonstrates the sector's new-found innovation. Hendrick's is made with mixing in mind, and it turns up in top-rank cocktail bars, including Zeta, Red and the Kingly Club.
